After three long years at CCAD I have finally handed in my Final Major Project. The concept behind all this work is based on the narrowing divide between nature and science, I named this Botany Creativity.

Here are some sneaky images of my final pieces, you will have to come to the show to see the rest...

I seem to have a lot of stuff in a lot of places at the minute as it is nearing to two deadlines but I thought I'd share a quick peek at the 3 metre 4 colourway screen printed length I done before Easter... enjoy!

Some quick snaps I took today of some of my final prints for one of the many collections of 'Botany Creativity'

Thank you to Graham and Brown for sponsoring me for my Final Major Project. This will enable me to produce lots of screen printed lengths and samples on their fab 'Wall Doctor' lining paper.

I am absolutely thrilled to be sponsored by such a renowned company. Please visit their website http://www.grahambrown.com and blog http://blog.grahambrown.com and have a look at some of their beautiful prints.

Trend Bible

On Friday I paid Trend Bible a visit. It was so lovely to meet with them and discuss what happens next!

I will begin my placement with them in summer once I have graduated, I am so excited to get an insight into such a renowned  trend company and learn new skills while there.

This is an image of me and Joanna Feeley, founder of Trend Bible.

Latest

I have been very busy recently getting on with the development process of Botany Creativity. I have been experimenting with colour, scale and layout. Spending days in the print room are the most enjoyable and I can't wait to see what next week brings!

C o l o u r

I have created these interesting textures using a mix of ink, Brusho, watercolour, glue and paint. Sometimes the accidental marks can become the most appealing.

Latest Repeats

After a few too many set backs I will finally be able to get underway with screen printing these this week.

Friday 8 February 2013

Some new research pinned up in my bay into shape, layout and geometric placement to inspire me for my latest designs. All imagery sourced from Pinterest.

Development

This week I have been busy getting underway with the development stage of my Major Project. I have been playing around with all my drawings and layering different imagery to see what interesting layouts I get. These  are shots of some of my layouts so far;

This is a very exciting stage for me, but until I can get into the print rooms next week I now have a weekend full of Koda Traces ahead of me!

New Direction

After looking back at all my drawing sheets I have done so far I feel there isnt a strong link between these and my original mood board. I think naturally my style of drawing and composition has led me in a different direction, which I am rather pleased about! I feel alot happier with my collection of drawings and my new A1 mood board which I completed today, see what yous all think..

Here's some photos of my drawing sheets in working progress;

.o0

So yesterday I attended a lecture by Alison Willoughby which was very inspiring and it was so intriguing to find out more about her history and her work. I was lucky enough to get a one to one tutorial with her where we looked through my current third year work together. It was so fun discussing my concept with her and coming up with crazy ideas together! She is so down to earth and really helped me gather my thoughts better. After speaking with Alison and completing some more development today I feel have opened a new door into a mass of excitement! I have so many ideas flowing now and cant wait to get them all down on paper and then hit the print rooms. I'm thinking scale, spot, disc, attach, length, surface! Photos of development process to come.

Competitions, competitions, competitions

Today I have been on the hunt for competitions I could enter! My course has worked with Trend Bible in the past on a live project so I thought their under-graduate prize fund competition would be perfect for me.

I have sent them a lovely email telling them all about my concept for my Major Project and why I am a deserving candidate to win the prize fund and two week placement with them. Fingers crossed! :)

Another day, another lecture

The talk I attended today was by a photographer named Richard Whitehead who kindly shared with us many of his photos and journeys from his career, both past and present. It was a fascinating insight into 'life after Uni' sort of speak, how he become a photo-journalist and who he had taken on commissions from in the past. He is now currently a practitioner and lecturer of photography at CCAD.

Event Week

Today I attended a lecture by Doug Patterson, it was so interesting and really inspiring! He told us all about his life and work which involved various crazy journeys around the world. He mainly spoke about his architectural talent and how for ten years or so he worked on 'The Great House' situated in the West Indies. Doug was commissioned to research, design, project manage and build this magnificent palace and 30 acre garden on the island of Mustique in the West Indies. This involved travelling round Europe and the Far East gathering craftsmen and artists to help with the project and sourcing various rare materials such as marble and semi precious stones.
